![]() Swim
Comments: this was possible the worst swim that I have ever done in my life. I was not close to being ready for the swim in the open water. I started out with the pack of swimmers then I got way of course and could not see because my goggle were fogging. Finally a guy in a Kayak turned me back towards the course (I was about 50 yards off of it). I really pushed hard at the beginning and pushed harder to get back onto the course, and by the time I got back on the course I was tired from swimming so hard. The whole swim sucked for me where I could not keep going in the right direction. I always seem to go to far to the left or right. What would you do differently?: 1. I first need to get new goggles that have better suction and that are more glare resistent. 2. I really need to get a swim coach to teach me proper swim technique and how to breath on both sides. 3. Need to practice in open water because it is a whole different ball game. 4. learn how to swim straight. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: Ok, Well getting into the shoes was not that bad, but it took me about 30 seconds to put the gloves on. I wish there was more directions on how the transition were suppose to work. What would you do differently?: Don't wear gloves ![]() Bike
Comments: I think that my biking was definitely my best leg of the race. No one past me on this segment and I past about 40 people maybe more. I kept a good pace up the whole race but I slowed it down towards the end. I should have shifted more towards the end of the race What would you do differently?: Not much that I would do different except maybe look at the course before hand. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Ok this was more of a pain than anything. First, because I was was in the second to last wave (Which is something I did not like), there was not many free space on the racks, so I just put it where I could. Second, they had 11 year old girls searching for our run bags and they said they could not find mine!!!! Thank god the only thing in my bag was my racing number. What would you do differently?: Not much I would do differently here but I hope I have a less stressful transition next time. ![]() Run
Comments: I felt slower than I felt I should have been. I kept the same pace almost the whole time. I had a bad muscle cramp in my shoulder that was killing me for the last mile which made my time a little slower. Only 2 people past me the whole time (which pissed me off because I should have paced with one of them), and I passed another 20 people on the run. What would you do differently?: Paced with someone and run harder at the end of the race. ![]() Post race
Warm down: Not much I just did some light running. What limited your ability to perform faster: 1. Not preparing correctly for the swim. 2. Not knowing the rules of how triathlons work 3. Cramp in the back during the run. Event comments: I was not really that tired after the race but I really don't think the race was that easy. It seemed to me that it was a good starter race and gave me insight for the next one. The next race I will be more prepared and ready (mentally and physically Last updated: 2005-07-11 12:00 AM

Not much of a warm up I just was scrambling trying to see what I needed to do. I was really nervous and tired from waking up at 4 and driving an hour and a half.
I did get in the water and it felt warmer than I thought. I swam for about 50 yards to warm up.
