Pre-race routine:

Showed up about 2 hours before race. I work 15 minutes from site. Wasn't worth going to then driving back. Got changed. Walked around and relaxed.
Event warmup:

3 miles around the HS cross country course in the woods Nice small rolling hills. A little streching.

Comments:

Drank to much water before the race. Could feel it sloshing around inside. The heat got to me. Definitly did not feel good for the first 5 minutes after the run.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing really. Couldn;t do much more other than control the weather.
Post race
Warm down:

3 miles with my friend through the XC course. Carried a water bottle, dumping it over me. it was good. Then we got some food and talked to some of his friends

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The heat. 85 degrees is just to hot for me to race in. A lot of big runners where there and took out the pace real fast. (winner ran 16:14)

Event comments:

Race went OK. All in all when it was over and cooled down, I was pleased with the race. These are fun runs and I didn't really throw everything I had at the race. Just to hot to do it and I;m still in the middle of training, hence the long warm-up and cool down.

Course: On the Bethpage bike trail onto the golf course. Fairly hilly. Tough enough to make you regret going out at 5:48 for the first mile. Oh well it was all down hill the first mile then up and down then flot for the miles. Not to bad.

You are smokin' fast! Jeesh, sorry the weather didn't allow you to run your best race.

I'd sell my daughter to run a 6:05 pace. Congrats.
