searching site for friends

Is there a way to find other friends that might be on BT? how do you search for specific people on this site? I was hoping to help network with people in my area, but unless we exchange info verbally or I stumble across them in a forum I can't figure out any other way to connect. There should be a people search for this site that you can opt into or am I missing something?
