Pre-race routine:

Up at 4:45am; drank a Starbuck's Double Espresso Shot, ate a Luna Bar (ya, ya, there for chics... whatever), and a few strawberries.
Event warmup:

Nothing actually. I stood around on the beach for 25min while the 1/2 people were out swimming.
Swim
  • 27m 32s
  • 1500 meters
  • 01m 50s / 100 meters
Comments:

Didn't draft anyone for some reason. With so few people, I started out front and really went after it for the first 500m- that was fun for a change.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Transition 1
  • 01m 53s
Comments:

Long run up the beach to T1. Fumbled around with my helmet, the mount line was in the wet grass (spin those wheels boys!), and my suit got stuck on my heels again.
What would you do differently?:

Get back to putting my shoes in the pedals before the race and save myself those 20 seconds.
Bike
  • 1h 34m 9s
  • 32.8 miles
  • 20.90 mile/hr
Comments:

This was my best bike split ever and on a difficult course too. I attacked the hills, kept my legs churning in the flats, and hammered the whole way.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Transition 2
  • 00m 53s
Comments:

I flew into T2 side-saddled and almost went through the flags at the end of the chute. I had some trouble with my socks and dropped my GU, but I couldn't have been there more then 45sec, a minute tops.
What would you do differently?:

Socks, gotta have them, but they never go on smooth.
Run
  • 58m 59s
  • 6.5 miles
  • 09m 04s  min/mile
Comments:

This run time can't be right, but the clock said 3:03:24 when I crossed the finish line, and crunching the numbers gives me 1:00:40 for my run time. I felt like I was going faster, 8 min/mi maybe 7:30 min/mi in spots, but the numbers don't lie. I'll stomach this run time for a good bike split.
What would you do differently?:

Take some water going out of T2, my abdomen cramps up ASAP when the bike leg is over.
Post race
Warm down:

Active Release! Those people were awesome. I've never felt so good after a race.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not much. A faster run split would have been nice, but the only person I saw from my age group at the finish line I remember passing on the bike, so he must have only gone the 24mi; in which case I think I won my AG, but who knows! There are no official splits for the race.

Official splits are up, and they're wrong.

Course: The volunteers sent us the wrong way at the second turn, and to correct the problem they cut a section of the bike course on everyone's way back; which was fine except some athletes that left T1 later made the correct turn and got the cut course, so they only went 22mi instead of "31"mi. The course was not 31mi either, the numbers here are what came off my bike computer in T2.
