Swim
  • 20m 49s
  • 400 meters
  • 05m 12s / 100 meters
Comments:

Very rough. Goggles knocked off by the waves. Difficult to get out. Once swimming down the beach the swells very difficult to swim in. I couldn't get into a breathing rythmn.

What would you do differently?:

Practice some ocean swims
Transition 1
  • 00m 43s
Comments:

I didn't open the strap on my right shoe, wasted alot of time fighting with my shoes. Long run from T1 exit to mounting zone, through the woods.
What would you do differently?:

Understand the transition area better, if there is a long run to the mounting zone I would rather have shoes on.
Bike
  • 31m 2s
  • 10 miles
  • 19.33 mile/hr
Comments:

First race in the aerobars. Hydration experiment Amino Vital w/ 1/2 a caffeine pill ground up.

Out was very good passing many riders. Back into the wind felt diificult, but I was still passing riders. Kept a good pace.
What would you do differently?:

Try hydration with whole caffiene pill.
Transition 2
  • 00m 39s
Comments:

T2 felt very good except for getting my GPS. I always forget it costing me 5 seconds.
Run
  • 27m
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 41s  min/mile
Comments:

Kept a consistent pace. I let someone in my group pass me, I didn't try to keep his pace, I ran my race and passed him by the end.
What would you do differently?:

The run was at my current capabilities, keep doing everything the same.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

The swim was brutal, I wasn't ready for the ocean swim.

Event comments:

Bad setup. Transition area too far from swim. Had to go too far with bike before mounting.

Sounds like we are very similar in age and in fitness level, and education (my wife and I are both Gators). I wanted to do this one, but work got in the way. I will be doing a sprint this Sunday on South Beach if you're interested.

Good, solid race, given the conditions. Nice job.
