Subject: RE: Moving day is quickly approaching ..any suggestions?Ahhh, yes. A thread I can relate to. I just moved from Louisiana back to Northern VA. We have a dog and have a home here so we wanted to stay in our place before the movers showed up with our stuff. We had two cars to haul stuff, but our plan was to show up ready to live until the movers showed.
In addition to bedding (sleeping bags, etc. ), we took three towels (3 of us ), a small TV with rabbit ears, three camp chairs, and pillows. We were 3-4 days ahead of our movers and we did really well. If you plan to get in late in the evening, include coffee, paper plates, cups, paper towels, dish soap, toilet paper, bath soap and your favorite bathroom cleaning products. If you don't have a built-in microwave oven, put a portable in one of the cars (if you have one ). If you plan to get in early, you have time to purchase a lot of this.
Surprisingly, we were really comfortable and took advantage of our time before the movers showed up. We scoured our house from top to bottom, stocked our pantry, and were more or less ready when the movers showed up. With a third car, if you have room, I'd probably throw in a microwave, vacuum cleaner and extra cleaning suplies.
But having a place to sleep, a place to sit, a TV to watch, and (possibly ) internet access is all you really need. Just keep the dogs happy.;- )
