Subject: I want to get into this but I don't know how to swim.
Hello all! My name's Robin. I've been always interested in cross training and always run marathon and biking but I've always had troubles when it comes to swimming. Since for those two I didn't need a trainer as I could learn by myself... but I'm completely hopeless when it comes to swimming. I really do want to attend a beginner's triathlon meet this year though, which is in 4 months. Would you think it is possible to swim 300m in that span of time? I live in the Canada and it's always hard to find an opening for swimming class, especially during winter.

Hi Robin and welcome to BT!

Four months is certainly enough time to train for a 300m swim, but it sounds like you need to find a class or get some private lessons to get you started. 

If you can't get into a class, you also might ask around to see if there are any accomplished swimmers/triathletes around who would be willing to spend some time with you.  

The Total Immersion books and videos are excellent for new swimmers such as yourself.  There are also hundreds of instructional videos on YouTube that can be helpful.
