Run
Comments: Tried to keep a steady pace and run as conservative as possible. Kept my eye on the guy in first place. Didn't want him to get too far away. Timed him at the turnaround and he had about 10 seconds on me. What would you do differently?: Not too much really. Happy with my effort. Transition 1
Comments: Speedy transition for me. Unfortunately I kicked my only bottle off the bike jumping on. Not phased too much. I knew there was an aid station at the 15 mile mark. Happy with my time here. First duathlete outta T1 by a ways. What would you do differently?: Not kick my HEED off, so I could have had some liquid calories on the bike. No worries though. Bike
Comments: I'm pretty happy with my bike. Was the 6th fastest bike split out of 289 participants if including the people who did the tri. I don't train on the bike that much so this is pretty decent. I did however miss the water bottle hand-off and that sucked. Had to finish the race with Hammer nutrition espresso flavored cotton mouth. Not only that but I had to relinquish first about 14 miles into the bike leg. Bummer! What would you do differently?: Not lose my original bottle and get water at the aid station. Otherwise more miles on the bike and I could've won this race. Transition 2
Comments: Couldn't find my spot cuz someone threw their wetsuit over my brightly colored towel. Lost about 15 seconds here, but it wouldn't have effected the outcome of the race. So no big deal. What would you do differently?: Not lose my head when I couldn't find my gear. Run
Comments: Went hard coming outta T2. Didn't know where 3rd place was so I wanted to really push it. Made the turnaround and didn't see third for awhile. So I just sorta sat up and put it in cruise control. I probably should of hammered the whole way. But I knew I had him by at least a few minutes, and first had me by a couple of minutes. What would you do differently?: Not worry about places and just hammer my own race. Kinda disappointed in myself. I gave up and that's lame! It won't happen again. Post race
Warm down: Stretched and took in mad quantities of fluid. What limited your ability to perform faster: MY HEAD! Event comments: It was a charity race, so I'm a lot more forgiving than I'd normally be. It was also the inaugural event so I expected some chaos. Overall the RD's did a fine job. I'm sure it will be better next year. Ya learn as you go and for first timers they did great. Last updated: 2007-09-12 12:00 AM

Hauled balls to get up to Boulder before 6 am, but other than that the usual same breakfast as always.
Ran a little bit. Maybe a mile with some pickups.
