Subject: What plan is best for me?
I am unsure what plan is best for me. I am a newbie to triathlons...I have done two sprints this past year. I have my schedule laid out for next year, starting on March 8th (12 weeks away) with a sprint....one olympic at the end of September...and maybe one more sprint in October and November...all that to say my year from March - November has a sprint every month...except my "big" event in September...which is my Olympic length. Should I start now with the Olympic training? Or start with a sprint plan? I have the time to dedicate to the olympic plan...but am unsure if that is wise training? I'd appreciate any input. Thanks, Bonny

You can start the 3rd month of the 20 week Sprint - 3x per week - Balanced plan...it seems to line-up perfectly with your current training...so you will do months 3, 4 and 5 until your race - if it seems too much to start out with, replace with months 2, 3 and 4 of the 16 week, 3x version.

After the first sprint you will have 7 weeks to fill in before you start on a 20 week oly plan.  You can use the week after the race to have impromptu workouts and rest some with low volume, you want to get hungry to train again.  Then do weeks 10 - 15 of the 16 week Sprint - 3x per week - Balanced plan.

Now you have 5 months until your end-of-September Oly.  Follow with the 20 week Oly - 3x per week - Balanced plan.

(Of course you can do the 'focuse' plans or maybe even the 2x plans if you have time or workout contraints.)

I hope I got this timing correct, verify with a calendar and let me know if any glaring issues.

...it's time for a beer...
