MY GOD!
I thought I was ok at swimming.Well I thought I was gonna die within 100m
Stayed at the back to keep away from mad rush
still got wacked in the head twice kicked in face once and swum over
FREAKED I stopped and let everyone get away from me
couldnt breath (never swum in wettie before)
Shoulders burnt from 200m mark on couldnt get the same rythm that I have in pool. Had to breath everystroke chest was real tight.
Also swam a little of course so had to keep realighning.
What would you do differently?:

Have just go TI dvd and books going back to basics and learning how to swim from start. spent last session at pool just doing drills 1&2
Swim more in open water to build confidence.
Eventually might buy a proper tri wettie.
And not try and drink the ocean dry.

Well all in all I would say that you ride and run BLOODY fast! Nice work on that run after all the rest before. I am envious! Sounded like a bad swimming experience - a tri-wetsuit is the ONLY way to go - a normal wettie will add times to your overall swim performance for so many reasons but At least you didn't freeze to death
Congrats on getting this done and I look forward to your next race report.

Wish me luck for Sunday! 500m swim / 20km ride / 5km run - first sprint for the season.
Ahhhhhh
