There should be a clinic before race day put on by LB Tri.  Last year they had paddle boarders and other volunteers there to help out as well while you were able to swim the course with everyone.

The course is protected so you shouldn't have to worry about any swells or rough water conditions.  There is also 1? tall building once you get out there to sight on as well.

Excellent. Is it something you have to sign up/pay for?

Thanks for the help!

I will be doing the relay this year (running short on the $$$ for races)

As for the clinics, when I registered, it seemed like this year those were only with the VIP packages which seems odd. Also, the last few years, these workshops were held 2-3 weeks prior to the race. Maybe there will be more info this week.

I must have missed that about the VIP... weird.

I'm not sure if I'll be swimming the course but a bunch of us swim in Sundays out in Bayshore.  Similar conditions.  You're more than welcome to come out and swim.  Usually about sunrise.

I found on the LBTRI Club website that they were offering free clinics on Sunday for the swim and Transition.  So being that I'm new to the game I signed up.

Free = good way to get new members!!

Very interested...Once this tri is done I plan on more and more OWS. Do you meet around 2nd and Bayshore Drive?

Thanks

That is the usual spot, as I swim there on Mondays around 6 pm. Great spot to swim with lots of people out there.

Just signed up.   Missed this race the first 2 years of my tri career, but this year that weekend was open and living so close....I couldn't resist.  See you guys out there!  Bald tattooed guy, M25-39.  :D

Haven't got in the water in the last couple weeks....I'm assuming it's still warm and no need for a wetsuit?

I meet up with the LB Tri club for the pre-race swim (first OWS of my career) on Sunday morning and the water was nice. I wore a sleeveless wetsuit and it was perfect (maybe a bit warm). Much more bouyant with suit and salt water than the pool!!!!

Quick Question.....Since T1 is 100+ yards through the sand will there be water to wash off the feet or do you have to bring your own bucket???

Thanks

I just bring an extra water bottle and squirt the water off my feet/ankles then do a quick dry off with a towel. But I've seen some folks with buckets.

The swim conditions were rough for me. I was doing the swim for a relay and I could not get a rhythm on the swim. Possibly my worst swim ever, going back to when I was on swim team in high school. I was not prepared for the chop, usually swimming at Bayshore where it is flat. I did get somewhat disoriented at the start after I got kicked in the head and my mask filled with water, then stopped to empty and go again, but every breath I took was into a swell...Just a bad swim for me. Luckily the rest f my relay killed it and we took 7th in the Coed division, and 13 overall in the relays.

I know how you feel on the swim.   I couldn't sim in a straight line to save my life.   I' go 5 strokes, look up, and the buoys would be way over on my left no matter how much I tried to compensate.  lol.  Must have a been a real strong incoming tide.

As a former swimmer I am embarrassed by my performance. Having to do heads up breaststroke for me was humiliating. Thats why there is next year

Yep.  The swim was rough this year and the fog definitely didn't help with sighting.
