I had my first tri this weekend and I must say it was great!! Finished in just under 2 hours, although I’m not ecstatic about my results of the race I still had a blast so it was well worth it. Are there any other first timers that are hooked now?

Raises hand! Which reminds me I need to sign up for my next sprint since I think I've picked it out.

Have thank this website for all of the great information it contains.  Can't say how much time it shaved for me but it had to be considerable amount.

I was definately hooked after my first one. The funny part for me was the whole time I was running, I was thinking "This sucks, this sucks, this sucks" But I swear 5 minutes after I crossed the finish line I was thinking "Ok, I wanna do another one.....just not right now"

I just finished my third tri this weekend (had the first in May), and I was definitely hooked right away.  (Although I think that there was a moment during that first one where I thought to myself - why am I doing this?)  But by this third one I had a moment where I thought - wow, I know what I'm doing now.  I'm even getting faster during transitions.  Very exciting.  So yes, I have the bug.

Same here. It was a very rewarding experience. Finished in 1:38, very happy as I just wanted to finish and finish under 2hrs.
I thought I saw you and your husband there Mindy, but I wasn't sure.
Glad to hear all went well. That was a very hilly course.
I am planning on doing the sprint in Yankton, SD over Labor Day weekend.

You probably did. I came in just under 2 hours. Jeff was at the top of the hill most of the time taking pictures of everyone. You might be in some of the pictures... Check out the Plattsmouth pictures I put up earlier and see if you in any... I glad you did so well. Great job!!

Yay Mindy!  I knew you would do awesome and love it!  Welcome to the world.  My original plan was to do one in May and one in August.  After my first I added a few to the schedule and will likely do 5 this year Smile

i've done 1 olympic triathlon.
i'm hooked
no, i'm obsessed now.
my life is about training for these triathlons. i plan my life around them. time with the kids, time with the wife, time for work, etc. if i need to go to the store i consider stoping at the pool for an hour on the way there! it's crazy!!!!

i'm eating better than never before. no more junk food, no more pop. i'm resting. feel better. lost 13 lbs (i was 183 and I'm 6'1). energized. feel great!

Just finished my first sprint triathlon this weekend as well.  I am completely hooked!!! I am looking at doing another in 2 weeks and a 3rd at the end of September.  Eyeballing a few Olympic distance ones for next year as well.  Even with the tragic events that happened during my first I really enjoyed it and can't wait for the next one.  Now I just have to get my wife to buy into this and let me go to a couple more before the summer is over.  WOO HOO!!!

I am definitely in the same boat.  I did my first triathlon last summer (sprint) and was immediately hooked.  I will do my first olympic distance tri on August 16th and I want to try to squeeze in another race this summer.  Next year, I am already looking at doing a few more, including a 70.3.  Most of my free time is spent either training, thinking about training, or looking up Triathlon/Ironman stuff online.  I'm hoping to get my wife hooked next.

I am definetely without a doubt hooked on this sport !! I just did my first one this past weekend and although my numbers were not great i could not wait until i got in the pool again. I am doing one at the end of the month and finishing up with one in october. Looking forward to training all winter and doing a bunch next year, maybe even a few out of town and have a mini vacation with the family too.

That is pretty much my thought process, too. But, I swear there is nothing better than a really good long run after you are done-best cardio for my body!  I have a love hate relationship with running

Same here!  Started training 8 weeks ago for a sprint tri coming up in October but feel confident enough to get into a mini 300m swim / 18 bike / 2 run in a two weeks.  It's a fantastic feeling to be up a 5:00am training when you know 90% of the town is sleeping!  FANTASTIC!

Good luck to all

Well I tried to do my first sprint triathlon this past Sunday (8/2) the Philly Danskin SheRox.  I was in the buddy wave and last to go in a race that was already delayed almost an hour do to storms and replaced the swim with a 1.5 m run.  We had such severe thunder and lightning storms that they called off the race right as I finished the bike leg and wouldn't let us run the 5K so I didn't get to finish the race.  And let me tell you I was biking in torrential rain wind hail flash flood lightning and I am TOTALLY HOOKED on the sport.  Gonna give it another shot in 2 weeks at LUMS POND Sprint triathlon in DE on 8/16.  Hopefully the weather will be more cooperative.
