While it is tragic and heartbreaking to see kids getting hit with chemical weapons does this mean the US needs to 'step in' and clean up their messy civil war. BTW, nothing civil about any war. And if we do, will Russia retaliate? And maybe Iran too. The wrong move here and this this could go up like a power keg!

My thinking is we take Assad out with drone or cruise missile. Then again, that might just make matters worse.

We never found chemical weapons in Iraq.....my guess is the went north to Syria before we attacked.

Assad isn't a good guy by any means, but I struggle to see the "rebels" as being any better.  Similar to Iraq where we took down Saddam because he was a bad guy...  I guess we showed him...
My bigger concern is that there are interests who want the US to stay involved in Syria.  There is absolutely zero incentive for Assad to use chemical weapons on his people with the US pulling out because it's the only way the US stays there.  If we leave then he wins and has a great relationship with Russia.  Then we all of a sudden have a chemical attack against his own people by Assad?  It just doesn't make any sense unless you consider that those who WANT the US to stay involved were the ones doing the chemical attack and making it look like it was Assad.  I'll admit I've read a lot of spy novels, but this is the kind of stuff that the CIA and other countries intelligence agencies do.  They cause propaganda and outrage to shape behavior by political leaders.

From what I understand ISIS is still around and our presence is keeping that at bay. If we pull out we are really giving a crescent from Lebanon to Iran to the Iranians to do as they please. Our continued presence in Syria is really beneficial to Israel. Not so sure it is beneficial to us, but beneficial to the Israelis.

I hate to admit that I've gotten to the point that I truly would not be surprised if Israel or even our own CIA gassed civilians to keep us in the war.  The only thing I know about it is the person being blamed (Assad) seems to be the one with the least amount of motivation to do it so it's hard for me to comprehend why he would.

600,000 Americans died in our civil war. Sometime countries just need to work these things out by themselves. Sounds cold I know but should we risk or sacrfice American lives to try to get a regime change there? SH also gassed his own people.

OTOH we are the most powerful nation on earth. Can we simply stand by and do nothing?

I am obviously conflicted. Whatever we do or don’t do Trump will be blamed.

I guess we need to leave it to the experts. We don’t see all the cards so kind of hard to advise them... I’m sure they check BT forums for COAs daily.

Courses of Action for those acronym impaired.

1300 were killed in a Sarin gas attack by the Syrian govt......AFTER Obama declared that chemical weapons were a "red line" for us that could not be crossed.......let's not forget that Obama and our govt. did NOTHING and chemical weapons continue to be used.  I don't care who did it, it cannot be tolerated.  And Tony - our govt. knows who used the gas....don't think otherwise.  Because if they don't, we have MUCH bigger problems than Sarin gas.

I truly hope that our government does know who is doing it and acts accordingly.  Propaganda is very real and there are very bad people in very powerful positions that use it extensively to shape the world.  We've been lied to before and we will be lied to again.
It's weird to say this, but I'm with the plant lady on this one:

Agree.

LMAO at CNN and MSNBC spinning this against Trump.

All the arm chair quarterbacks are now out in force opining. Guess that would include us....

CNN can't let this be an unconditional success. By golly, they're reporting that several missiles were shot down and that Assad is unfazed. I'm sure they'll get 'reporters' on the ground to bring us a destroyed baby milk factory, hospital, mangled bodies of children and old people that were caught in the strike. Flip side, Fox seems to be portraying it as peace restored to the ME and the people are rejoicing in the streets.

This all seems so vaguely familiar. My long term prediction is this bites the US firmly in the azz. Our beloved rebels turn out to be azz backwards koran thumping cavemen hell bent on turning Syria back to the 1200's.

Who cares what the liberal media "reports"?

Bottom line.....chemical weapons are against international law and objectively immoral.  The US has the means and the will to enforce that law for the good of the world.

Keep in mind mdg - it was the Obama administration who backed the rebels and got us involved there....drew the "red line", and then did NOTHING when it was crossed.  Lead or get out of the way......enter President Trump.

God Bless our men and women in harms way....doing the hard work while we enjoy our lives.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I get why it was done. And it was way overdue. The redline in the sand was a hallmark moment for the obama admin. and probably why he gassed his own people again. If I'm Assad, I've got to think that the super popular obama did nothing and received zero public backlash for ignoring his own threats against Syria, surely the current clown show won't do anything either. Gas away!

My point is that there are probably no good guys on either side of their civil war. We're backing the 'apparent' lesser of two evils and that policy has bitten us before. We need to just knock the snot out of the Assad regime and walk away from it. I hope Trump has the sense not to get dragged into another 'democracy building' quagmire.

We did the right thing. We took out their chemical weapons production using out technology without too much risk. We lost no lives or equipment. Well, ‘cept a bunch of missiles. They came keep what’s left of them.

As I mentioned, I still feel there's something weird going on here with the chemical weapons use but all I can do is trust that these guys have the right intel and aren't stupid.  I know, it's a stretch.
From an execution of the attack standpoint, I'm very proud of my Navy brothers and sisters who lobbed the majority of the ordinance.  I was chuckling about the Russians claiming that over 70 missiles were shot down.  Then of course one of the MSM outlets was interviewing an engineer from one of the attacked buildings who was very sad because his lifetime of work had been destroyed.  They even asked him if he made chemical weapons and he responded no.  My wife, who doesn't follow politics much screamed out something to the effect of "of course he's going to say that you morons!!!"  lol

Our media is seriously a propaganda outlet for our enemies.
