Subject: RE: The Jerseyman Half Iron Distance Triathlon : Official ThreadI got lost too and was not happy. Parts of the course were not safe at all and it was not well marked. On the website they went out of their way to mention how flat the bike course was with only a few small climbs which is simply not the case. It was a very challenging bike course. I am not adverse to a tough bike course but I would have trained differently and simply been more mentally prepared. They also ran out of finishers medals so almost half the participants did not receive one. The bragged on the website about how great their medals are and then don't even order enough for the registered athletes??? Are you kidding? They also chinced on the bike race numbers. They were like tissue paper and fell of everyone's bike about ten minutes in. So later, when your bike is left fairly unguarded with no race number on it, anyone could walk away with your ride. And finally, the post race food tent was no where near the finish. I was so tired and frustrated and I just wanted to grab a banana and and a drink, but after just finishing a half iron, I was in no mood to walk to the other side of the park to get it. We loaded the car and stopped at a convenience store on the way home. All this is such a bummer, because the course is absolutely gorgeous! I would love to do this race again. I'd just like to see it be better organized. I sincerely hope they get their act together. |
