Subject: RE: Island Lake Triathlon Presented by Cadence Cycle : Official Threaddtrimmer - 2009-06-17 2:01 PM Hi all, I registered for my 1st Triathlon last Friday and am looking forward to it. Being my first, will I receive an email, or something in the post regarding what time to be there, and what to bring (proof of ID etc...) All it says on the website is that the race starts at 7:30am I've read here that most races have waves, and I would race with other beginners. Maybe all that information is provided the morning of the race? In which case I would have to be there well before the race start time, maybe an 1hr or even more? Any help appreciated. Thanks!
Hey! I'm not sure if you'll get an email before Sunday. But, if I were you I'd try to get there as early as possible. That way you can get your transition area setup, warm up properly, mingle a bit and relax a minute before the thing starts. You'll be surprised how fast the time goes in the morning....before you know it you'll be in the water. So....my suggestion is to get there really early. I'll be there by 6:00am at the latest. I'm not sure how the waves are set up for this one. Normally, you'd go off with your sex and your age group....for example Males under 40, Males over 40, Females under 40, then Females over 40. I haven't done this tri yet, so maybe others can give more specific information regarding the waves they had last year. I don't know if this race has a special wave specifically for beginners. Bring your ID....not sure if they'll actually look at it, but they may. I'm going to bring my blue tent....so look for it and feel free to swing by if you want to before the race. Don't be shy. I'll probably be standing in that thing all by myself anyways. lol |
