Subject: Missing the Sunday long run
Today's weather is very cold and windy and thus I cannot run my long run today, which I consider the most important run of the week. Normally tomorrow's workout is a 1 hour swim and a 1 hour core workout at night. Should I run the "long run" tomorrow morning or wait until next week?

Need advice,

Geoff

I think it was Mark Allen who said pick your two most important workouts in a week and make them a priority, let the other ones slide if you have to. If I miss a workout I miss a workout and don't try to make it up. Sometimes I get into grooves like that and end up totally under trained. Other times I really need the break and am better off missing my long run that week. Training isn't an exact science. See how you feel, how your day will have to go. If you have to get up too early to get it in before work or something maybe you should just miss it. Are you ready for an easy week or do you need a hard week? If you feel you need to train hard now do it, if not skip it and wait for next week. You need hard and easy weeks as well as hard and easy days.
