Subject: Getting Sick-Day Before Event-Figures!!!

I cannot believe it. I'm tired. Coughing. And I'm scheduled to "escape" from Alcatraz and then run seven miles. Oh man. Does this suck or what?

I've been tapering (swam Monday, run Tuesday--nothing since then.)  Started feeling mildly yucky Wednesday but been fighting it off--or at least I thought. Bad night's sleep last night due to coughing.

Any advice? I'm gonna go come hell or high water (it may feel like just that.) Right now I'm downloading as much UPBEAT music as possible for the ipod.

Thanks guys.

Sula

I don't have much advice, but I can relate.  I had a migraine the day before my last race, an open water swim. I called the race director and canceled, but i felt fine the next morning and swam it after all.  I did better than I expected and had fun.  I am sick again this weekend-a fierce headache, nausea, and slight fever-and have a tri tomorrow.  I am really hoping that I will feel better in the morning.

drink lots of fluids, push vitamins, take something to help you sleep-it is soooo important to get a good nights sleep.  sometimes it helps if I take echinacea right away.  I can not think of much else to do at the moment.

I am starting to wonder if this is how I show pre-race nervousness.

Thanks so much for your message.  I'll be thinking of you for tomorrow.

Today went fine. The silver lining to the bad night's sleep cloud on Thursday was that Friday I was so tired I conked out at 10:30 and gpt 6 hours sleep solid. I didn't feel sick today except for a bad sore throat. All went fine--a little cloudy over Alcatraz but the water was a balmy 62. I was thankful for the cloud cover during the run though. Now I'm going to take a *long* nap!

Good luck tomorrow!!
