My 2008 P2C came with Shimano RS10 Wheels.

They were a recent add to the build kit to Replace the RS-550 Wheels which appear to have had a pretty poor reputation. (I Saw a bunch of bad reviews and very few good ones)

So now I have almost 1,000 miles on the bike and they are starting to show some weakness.

Last month I hit a bump (On the Front) and one of the bladed spokes rotated 90 degrees. (The LBS fixed the spoke and trued the wheel for free)

Today on my ride to work, I broke a spoke in the rear. It snapped inside the nipple and was on the non-drive side. I was climbing but was down in aero and not standing up when it happened. I am only 170 pounds and don't think I am overstressing the wheel.

The LBS stuck a new spoke in and trued the wheel up but I am starting to wonder if these wheels are starting to come apart on me. I am none too eager to run out and spend a bunch of dough on wheels unless I absolutely have to. (IE. the Wheels are toast)

I put a lot of miles on my bike commuting and training and would hate to get stuck someplace with a broken wheel. The Tolerances on the P2C are such that the bike is pretty much unrideable if the wheel is moderately out of true.

Anyone else having any issues with these wheels? And experience or advice from the bike wrenches would be greatly appreciated.

No experience, but it sounds as though these weren't tensioned properly? You make it seem like they've got not too many miles on them. Sounds to me like a poor build issue. I had a Rocky Mountain MTB which had "hand built" wheels on it which were terrible. Shedding spokes like snakeskins.

Your RS10's sound like a bad lot. Are they "rebuildable" or is the whole deal toast?

The bike is 2 months old and so they are still quite new.

If they are coming apart, I am certain it is because they are poorly built; Especially given that other wheels made by them are not fairing too well. As I read, Shimano is still quite new to the wheel building business and I guess they are ironing out their quality issues.

Not sure if they are gonna stand behind the wheels or not; but since they came with the bike, I suspect it will be a vendor issue with Cervelo and not Shimano. I am going to post something over on the Owner's Forum and see if they have any ideas.  They only just started shipping bikes with this wheelset and I am pretty certain that there is not gonna be a lot of experience with them.

Not sure if they are rebuildable or not. I have rebuilt older 32 spoke Road and Mtn Bike Wheels but not sure if these are easier or harder to rebuild. They are straight pull bladed spokes and the front is radial.

Both Rims still appear to be straight and true. If I do end up replacing them, I might give it a go and try to rebuild them. (If it works, I will throw them on my old road bike)
