Subject: Quick tax question

I am working on my return right now, and my (soon to be ex)wife and I are reporting a combined income of $55,000 for last year.

For the federal return, it shows we OWE $148. Does this sound right? Nothing special to report on the return, very basic. Just worried because we usually get a refund, in the $500 range. Has anything changed?

You are the only one with the information to answer your question. How much tax does your return say you owe? How much federal income tax was withheld from your paychecks on your W2s? The difference between those two amounts is how much you owe (if not enough was withheld), or how much you should receive in a refund (if too much was withheld).

Thanks for the info, however, I totally brainfarted and didn't put in some info regarding my HSA... Now we are getting a WHOPPING return of $6.

That's right, not a typo, 6 bucks. And I'm making 'em send me a check, too.
