Subject: Hi!-Newbie from White Plains, NYHi Everyone! I've been reading through many threads and learning alot. I am going to attempt my first tri (sprint- Danskin SheROX ) in early August. I ran my first and only marathon 30 years ago this coming October when I was 21, so you can tell I'm no spring chicken. But a few years after my marathon I was sidelined with injuries and never attempted any serious training since then. I swam long distance in high school and cycled a bit while nursing my running injuries so I have dabbled in all the "arts". I have no speed but have good endurance. I have given myself this goal as a inspiration to lose weight, get in shape, attain a goal, have fun, move more, feel better, get out more etc. I would definitely be considered a Athena as I haven't been under 150 since my marathon days and don't expect to be there again. I just want to be able to train without getting injured, get to the start and finish of the event and stay healthy. p.s. I was in Kona for an early Ironman (1981 ) and have always been an admirer of triathletes |
