Hi Everyone! I've been reading through many threads and learning alot.
I am going to attempt my first tri (sprint- Danskin SheROX) in early August.

I ran my first and only marathon 30 years ago this coming October when I was 21, so you can tell I'm no spring chicken. But a few years after my marathon I was sidelined with injuries and never attempted any serious training since then.

I  swam long distance in high school and cycled a bit while nursing my running injuries so I have dabbled in all the "arts". I have no speed but have good endurance.

I have given myself this goal as a inspiration to lose weight, get in shape, attain a goal, have fun, move more, feel better, get out more etc.

I would definitely be considered a Athena as I haven't been under 150 since my marathon days and don't expect to be there again.

I just want to be able to train without getting injured, get to the start and finish of the event and stay healthy.

p.s. I was in Kona for an early Ironman (1981) and have always been an admirer of triathletes

Hi and welcome to BT... great group of people.  I grew up in Armonk and am now in Texas and I'm also about your age (51) and am doing my first Tri in May.  If you really get into your training, don't be surprised if you lose your Athena status!  I've lost 40 pounds since I began training seriously, and hope to lose 10 more, although I am looking pretty good right now!  Welcome!!
