Subject: Ow! Any Dentists in the House?
Ugh. My dentist is closed on Fridays. I had a filling on Monday afternoon...no immediate discomfort once the numbness wore off. Yesterday, a slow dull ache (agonizing and constant) kicked in. I don't have any change in pain with chewing. I do have an increase in pain when I press my tongue against the gums immediately below the tooth. It feels like while I was numb I was flossed with razor-wire.

Any thoughts? For now, I'm taking ibuprofen, but it isn't touching the dull ache at all. I tried Anbesol, and likewise, it isn't doing anything. I've swished with warm saltwater. I am having no sensitivity to cold or heat. I have leftover heavy-duty pills from an earlier orthopedic operation...I'm thinking it's my only way out of the agony tonight.

Will this get better???

The only thing that gives me some relief when it happens to me is a double dose of Advil (ibulprofen). I take two and wait for it to work. Usualy it take about half and hour. On my waken hours I double it with strong coffee it acts as a 222. Then I call the dentist first thing monday morning.

That works for me. I don't have any heart problems, at least for now and I am quite robust with pain. I'm no doctor nor pharmacist so I don't recommend it to any one. If it gets unbearable go see one of the last two for advice.

Take care of yourself, I know what you're going throu.

I'm a dentist IRL, but I try not to play one on the internet I won't try to make a diagnosis online, but I will say that, since it felt OK immediately after the procedure and then got worse after a few days, it is unlikely to get better by itself. Have you tried contacting your dentist even though they are closed? I am available by cell phone pretty much anytime except when I am swimming or running, and most of the dentists I know do something similar.

Best of luck to you, and I hope you feel better soon. I don't know if I can be of any help, but please feel free to contact me via PM if you would like.
