Subject: RE: Pain in/under knee capPossibly patella tendonitis or patella-femoral syndrome/chondromalacia (sometimes people use pat. tend. interchangeably w/ p-f syn - don't know if that's right or not ). I deal with that. The advice I got from an athletic trainer when it was so bad I cried to walk was to get on the stationary upright bike and pedal slowly through the pain until it finally subsided. She said it was one of the few times you really do just have to get through the pain. I had my head on my arms trying to hide the tears while attempting to go fast enough so the machine wouldn't shut off. However, I would absolutely not attempt pushing through it without being checked out by a doc/PT/AT. Could be a torn meniscus or something, and that would be bad news. Good news is that if it is the patellar tendon, the "brace" for it is cheap, light, and easy to put on in T1! |
