I am considering doing this race so I started looking at old race reports and saw that everyone wa wearing wetsuits. Can anyone who has done this race tell me if they are necessary for this race? I figured since it is August it would be warm enough that they would not be permitted and I am not comfortable enough to race in a wetsuit. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. Thanks!

I have not done that race but when I put lake logan into our search it came up with a sprint and an international distance race somewhere in South Carolina (if I remember right) from glancing at the race reports it looked like last year the water temp was about 75 degrees and in 2007 it was about 70 degrees. If it is in the 75 area you will not need one and they may not even be allowed, if it is around 70 you should still be fine. If, for whatever reason it is in the mid 60s you might want a wetsuit but I see people race in 65 degree water without one. I would think you would be ok with no wetsuit but also remember to get plenty of OWS practice in prior to the actual race. It will really help out!

I did it last year and it was my first triathlon ever.  It's a really friendly course and I liked it a lot.  I didn't use a wetsuit last year because I didn't have one at the time, and I thought the water temp. was pretty good, not too cold once I started going.  I'm going to bring my sleeveless this year just in case it is wetsuit legal.  I'd check the water temperature for that area as race day comes up, but it should be okay without a wetsuit.
