Subject: Hernia question...

Just to start, I have been trying to get in touch with my doctor, but for now I figured I would see if anyone has had past experience...

I had an inguinal hernia repaired 4 years ago. No pain with it, even before the repair. Through the past 2 weeks I have had pain after I run only. Now the pain has extended to all day long.

As I said, I am getting an appointment, but I'm wondering if anyone has had a repaired hernia (laproscopically..with the mesh) and experienced pain afterwards. Is it something I should be concerned about - and avoid workouts?
Thanks.

No mesh, but I went as far as getting an MRI the surgery site hurt.

It turned out to be a false alarm that went away with time.

No real answer, but my doctor knew that I am not a whiner - and I had no co-pay.

I had a left inguinal hernia repaired with mesh about 8 years ago when I was in college.  Recovery was a .  I was rowing at the time and I started back up training too quickly and kept re-injuring or tearing tissue out of the mesh, very painful.  I basically just had to rest more to let the scar tissue build up.  I've been told since then that the best repair does not involve using the mesh.  I haven't really had any problems since then but every now and then I can feel some sharp pains...usually after running as well.  I would rest if its bothering you because it can be very painful if you let it progress!
