Subject: Spinning
What is the general view on substituting spinning for actual bike time?  I ride outside on weekends but, given stop signs, traffic, etc., it is difficult to get a good amount of time in higher HR zones.  The spin classes seem like a great way to get the higher intensity training in, but I'm not sure if I'm spending much of my overall bike time on spinner (vs bike)...right now it's about 65% spinning and 35% actual bike time weekly.

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

I think most people feel that actual biking will benefit you the most.

As for me...I have child care issues to where I can't get out on my bike more than 1 or 2 days a week.

My options are either the Spin Classes at the Y (which offer 2 hour free daycare) or riding on the trainer at home.

Personaly, the Spin classes are a lot more fun than the trainer, so I tend to lean that way, but both beat sitting on the sofa and watching TV.
