Clipless Pedals

If you have the money to spend I would definitely invest. Even if they are too rich for the bike's blood, as the above comment says, you can easily transfer to another bike if and when you decide to upgrade.

If you get them though, I'd advice practicing clipping in and out in a parking lot. It's almost inevitable that you will fall forgetting to clip out on the road at the beginning, but you can probably minimize the falling if you train your leg muscles to get used to the new movement. :D (PS falling while still clipped in is underrated, in my opinion - definitely adds entertainment to your ride, assuming it's a relatively mild fall )
