Subject: Hip Bursitis - any suggestions?
Anybody have a good solution to nagging hip bursitis?

I flared it up this winter when I started doing lunges (probably incorrectly). Since then, it is pretty sore with running, and I feel it after a hard ride. I was able to train through it this season, but now that summer is winding down, I'd like to get rid of it. I don't want to loose my conditioning by taking a lot of time off.

Anyboy have a "silver bullet" for getting rid of hip bursitis?

Thanks.

Not sure if I had hip bursitis or if it was irritation from ITBS but rolling on a tennis ball has worked wonders for me.  It will hurt but well worth it for me.  Now if I could figure out the underlying issue of what is causing it.

I was having major pain in the hip/arse region on long rides working up to a HIM in late May.  After the race, I took a couple weeks off and it go no better.  I don't feel much pain on the run or swim, but after 10 miles on the bike it starts to hurt like heck.  So I give it a month, still no change.  Doc visit (genl practioner) results in diagnosis as bursitis and remedy is oral steroid cycle & rest for 3 weeks (no activity of any kind).  Outcome is the same, pain free except after 10 miles into bike, can only feel on runs greater than 7-8 miles.  So today, I'm off to the orthopedist for his input.  If you find a cure let me know, as its become a chronic pain in the arse for me.
