Subject: heart rate training zones
hello!
ok I am getting a heart rate monitor and needed help setting up my training zones. I did a bike ride LT test (30 minute ride, averaged the last 20 minutes) and had an average heart rate of 173. Im 32 years old, 150 lbs, resting heart rate of 50.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

also is that average of 173 high or low? im not sure what to really think about it

There are different systems of 'zones', but they tend to be fairly close to each other.  Purists and pedants may wish to disagree with that, and I'm in no position to argue with them.  But i any case, it would be worth knowing that whatever plan you are following (assuming you are, and assuming it is based on HR) uses the same definitions that you are using.

I use Friel's zones, which you can see here.

173 is neither 'high' nor 'low'.  It just is what it is.  173 also happens to be my bike LTHR based on my last test.
