Subject: Vacation and set PR in 5K...I'm on vacation in the Outer Banks of NC and have been doing some long runs and some swims of course. Started doing "long" runs on the advice of an aquaintance that I think ran in college. She told me to toss in some long runs and that all I've been doing... nothing less than 8 miles in fact at least 3 times a week. My first 5K was the 4th of July this year and I ran a 22 minute and some change race. Anyway when we checked in for our house I noted they were running their first annual Currituck Club 5K. It benefited the American Heart Association and was only $5. Count me in, especially since it is pretty flat out here. I ran it in 20 minutes and 25 seconds... essentially I bettered my 5K time by almost 2 minutes. My split was 10 minutes 15, so I turned a little quicker second half. Great week though, wish I had brought my bike. Otherwise lots of nice runs and I was the only one I saw all week swimming in the ocean. Makes me want to sign up for a race I saw listed at Virginia Beach I enjoyed the ocean swims so much. Pretty happy with my run progression though. Last year this time I wasn't even running yet and I was in the midst of going from 250 to 175. Just wanted to share my present new PR from the OBX. |
