Haven't actually competed in a tri yet, have played competitive sport (squash, netball, field hockey) for many years and after having two children (now 2.5 yrs & 9 months) don't have the time to affiliate and dedicate a set time to training etc.  so I have decided to give the tri disciplines a go as I find that it is more flexible.  Any suggestions for when the winter months hit as I don't like running on a treadmill (boring), I do have a turbo trainer for the bike and the local pool is 5mins form my home so no issues there, I am just concerned about running in the -stupid weather, anyone else have this concern?

Welcome!

Just peruse the different forums - you can find more information than you ever thought possible. And from what I read - Calgary has a really active tri scene ... wish I'd gotten into the sport before I moved away from there! ;-)

Hey there and welcome also fom Calgary. I really just got into things last year. And not much you can do but suck it up in the winter. I was never a runner, but you can get some pretty thin yet warm clothes to tackle the cold. I actually started to enjoy it in the cold. Any lower than -15 or 20 with windchill, it was treadmill though. Those times don't last though for too long. Chinook blows in and your back out there.
