Subject: SRAM DoubleTap Shifter Maintenance

Afternoon all,

I have 3000 miles on my specialized with Sram Rival Shifters, recently the front derraileur has started dropping to the inner riing after shifting up.

Bike has been rarely ridden in the wet.

I am guessing that there is some sort of gear pawl in the shifter which is not enganing properly - I haven't really done any maintenance on the shifters in the year I've had the bike (aside from cleaning).

What should I have done and how do I get back to regular shifting?

Is the shifter positively clicking (like it has made the shift) and the derailleur is just not moving all the way? If not, it could be more than a maintenance issue.

3000 miles of regular riding might indicate time for new cables, or at a minimum re-tensioning of the shifter cable.

I've never heard of much in the way of shifter maintenance. Check the SRAM website to be sure.

Hi Glen,

I have Force shifters with only about 1000 miles.

Have you recently adjusted the cables or changed them?

3000 miles shouldn't  be enough for much wear and tear.
