Subject: Helmet suggestions?
I am looking to do my 1st tri in about 6 weeks and need to pick up a helmet. Is there anything I should look for? Or any recommendations? I am trying to stay around 50 dollars as thats 1/3 of my bike cost. LOL I am trying to just skate but this year. I want to buy some better equip next season.

Take a look at Bike Nashbar or Performance Bike on-line. They have helmet close-outs all the time. CPSC rating is minimum for helmet safety. You first want protection, and second, you want a light helmet, or your neck will tire after awhile. The ones with the adjustment knob in back for the head strap are great.

You can get an entry level helmet at most bike shops for $35-40. not as light or as many vents as the more expensive ons but same crash ratings usally.
