Subject: OWS in Denton Texas area?
Looking for a place where the wife and I can get in some open water swimming?  I heard of the TTT (Texas Triple Threat) at Pier 121 marina at Lewisville lake but what about non swim weekends?  I am sure they do not swim every weekend.  We would like to swim more OWS then just once a month.  We are not sure where or what to do when swimming out in the open water.

Is there lanes maked off for lake swimmers somewhere?

Dan

Pier 121 is a great place to OWS. Another place, also on Lake Lewisville, is off I-35 and Garden Ridge, just on the west side of the highway. There's a small entrance to a park and it's free. If you swim along the buoys, it's about 200 yards each way.

Both Pier 121 and the park off I-35 are marked off for swimming, and I've never had a problem doing OWS at either location.

Frisco Triathlon Club does OWS every other Saturday morning (this saturday coming up is on) and every other Tuesday evening in  Lake Lewisville at Little Elm Park.  We have marker buoys set up to practice siting, a kayak in the water, and an experienced swimmer that works with beginners.  There are different distance options with the way we set up the buoys, so someone new can go about 80 - 150 yds at a time while they learn and get comfortable.  Come out and check it/us out.
