Pre-race routine:

Worked all day, got there about an hour early, and got a nice spot on the end of a rack. Had a clif bar on the way over.
Event warmup:

Quick swim in the lake. Have I said lately how much I love my wetsuit

T1 included in time

Swim went great. Was aiming for around 7:30. Last year when I swam this course, the best I did was 8:30. No panic at all, actually started off in the middle of the pack just so I could get the feeling of being jostled around. Sighting was ok, instead of using bouy, used a cell tower off in the distance, which was easier to see. Got off course a few times on teh way out, until I started using a life guard on a board to keep me in line. After I turned the bouy, swam pretty straight on the way in.

Nothing really
Transition 1

Comments:

Went pretty smoothly. Had a bit of trouble pulling off the suit, should just sit down. Had it unzipped and pulled off my arms by the time I got to my bike. Shoes and socks went on pretty uneventfully, but would probably be better served sitting to do it.
What would you do differently?:

Sit down to get things off and on

Comments:

Two loop course with a couple of decent climbs and some long downhills on each loop. Went out at a pretty good pace, have no idea how fast though, since I forgot to reset the computer. DOH. More or less followed Dave (Hudnick) around the course.

Transition 2

Comments:

Pretty smooth. Made sure to unclip early, then took my time jogging back to T@ to get my legs moving. Slipped running shoes on and grabbed hat.

Comments:

Time inludes T2
Caught Dave in transition and we ended up running together the whole course. Legs came around pretty quickly, had a few problems with stitches, but worked them out. Last mile or so was ran in a complete downpur with soem thunder and lightening.
Post race
Warm down:

Got to my rack and my bike, shoes, helmet and wetsuit were gone. Praying that my wife took them to the car before it started raining (she did, what a great wife she is). Collected up the rest of my soaked stuff and ran for the pavillion.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing much really, maybe not to a 10 mile run the day before. And having to work all day before the race. My legs are always fresher in the morning.

Event comments:

Good training race for the 1/2 IM next week. Learned a few things that I will definitely employ next week. I'll post a few "photos" that my 7yo son took at the race as soon as I upload them
