Pre-race routine:

Pre race stopped for coffee on my way to Laura's. Ate a granola bar on the way. Got to Laura's, and we rode to the race start, which was about 1-2 miles from her house. Set up transition, and it was off to wait for the start. Not much to set up for the transition, just lay out the shoes and helmet.
Event warmup:

The ride from Laura's to the start was our warm up. Stretched a bit before the start.
Run
  • 20m 33s
  • 2 miles
  • 10m 17s  min/mile
Comments:

The first run time includes the first transition, the time was taken coming out of T1. Used the water station to dump water over my head to keep cool, good run overall.
What would you do differently?:

Practice! I was happy that I did not walk at all during the first run, but at the start there were so many ladies who just sprinted ahead of me.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

No separate T1 time, got lumped in with first run.
What would you do differently?:

Good transition, took a couple of minutes to change shoes just because they are both tie (runners and bike). Not a big deal though.
Bike
  • 36m 49s
  • 11 miles
  • 17.93 mile/hr
Comments:

The bike was great, passed quite a few people (who in turn passed me then on the second run), but I felt strong on the bike.
What would you do differently?:

There were quite a few (I counted 10-15 people) riding with walkman's on!!! Wouldn't mind except for some of these folks were riding to the left, so it made it hard to pass. Really frustrating. Wouldn't do much of anything different, if I can keep practicing, I will keep getting stronger on this leg.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Good T2, just like T1. Took probably 2 minutes or so.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Run
  • 22m 24s
  • 2 miles
  • 11m 12s  min/mile
Comments:

Same course, again did not walk at all, which was my main goal. Though the jog was quite slow at times, it was still a jog so I am happy. Started feeling tired at the end, but finished strong.
What would you do differently?:

Same as above, practice. :)
Post race
Warm down:

Walked a bit, then sat in the shade. Did a little stretching, then got our bikes and rode back to Laura's house. Showered and went to breakfast for a recovery omlette with bacon avacado and tomato. mmmmmmm.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My main limiter was the lack of running training I have been doing. Though I was able to run the entire course, I could have done much better had a I actually be practicing.

Event comments:

Good race, small and very organized. Would do this again if I had to. :)
