Subject: New, slow, hopeful Traithlete in Las Vegas
Hello all!  My name is Dan and I've never been an athlete in my life.  I am now 47 years old, 413 lbs and 6'4" looking to complete the Pumpkinman Sprint Triathlon in Las Vegas this coming fall.  I have never done physical training for any sport so this is all very new to me.  A co-worker and friend of mine has been competing in sprint distance triathlons for over a year now and she has inspired me to give it a go.

I bought a bike about 5 weeks ago before I had this idea and I'm regretting my choice, but I'll have to live with it for now.  Its a Schwinn Landwark cruiser and not what you would call a "serious" bike.  It has gotten me riding though.  I started at one mile per day, five days a week and I'm already up to 8 miles per day.  I can see some progress!

I'm looking for inspiration and information on this site and have found a great deal already.

I look forward to "talking" to everyone here.

Welcome to the world of tris!  You will find everyone on this website super helpfull!  Don't be afraid to ask questions.  Good luck to you!  I recommend using the training logs on this website.  They are great because the total your miles, hours, distances for you.  Also, when you ask a question someone can look at your logs and give you feedback based on your current training level.
