Comments: Felt good today, went out hard and held on well. Toward end of 1st lap, got caught by a woman and a tall "geeky guy". Both were pushing hard, which kept me honest. I kept with them until the 5.2 mile marker and I started my kick. Lost both by 5.6 miles and kept up the pace. 10 meters from the finish, the geeky guy passed me. Turns out, he was in my age group. I was 10 meters from a 2nd place finish. What would you do differently?: Know where the geeky guy is near the finish. Also, I had a bit more to give. Could have either kicked sooner or kicked harder near the finish. Probably should have kicked sooner. Overall time was good. Post race
Warm down: Stretch, drink Gu2O. What limited your ability to perform faster: Speed work. Event comments: Two drink stations were at weird intervals and none at 3 mile marker. Mile markers were confusing. Not many people watching, but plenty of volunteers throughout the course (none cheering though). Overall, if you want to have a personal best, this is your course.
