What a blast!!! My first tri was in a newly developed subdivision in a city. We swam 800m in a artificial lake in the sub, biked 12mi around the sub and ran 3mi in the wooded trail around the sub! It was rather small event and perfect for a beginner. I couldn't beat the targeted 1:30 but it was close. I have never swam in an open lake, and it took me a while to put my face in the water after I saw dark green bottomless lake, yikes!! But the swim seemed to be shorter than 800m I was used to. Transition was smooth, thanks to all the advice I took from this website and I biked ok, although I didn't like it when other women with 40 something on their legs with K-mart bikes were passing me.... I don't enjoy Bike as much as other events. I practiced bike-run combination, but never in full 12mi and 3mi. So Running was supposed to be my best event, but I never got a rythm. I didnt like running on a dirt-packed hard uneven surface (made by big construction trucks) at all.

The best part is to see my family at the end and big feast after the race (this happened to be also an open house for the newly constructed boat house in the sub.).

I can't wait for the next season and make some improvements!!
