Sunny
Total Time = 2h 46m 48s
Overall Rank = 24/64
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 4/7
Pre-race routine:

Had oatmeal and a bagel at the motel. Arrived at transition area, claimed bike spot and went for a short spin. Set up transition area, got marked and spoke with "old and new friends". I stretched out, had an Xs and Rhodiolla 45 min prior to projected start time.
Event warmup:

Spin on bike about 15 minutes. Light stretching.
Swim
  • 24m 23s
  • 1094 yards
  • 02m 14s / 100 yards
Comments:

In my lane I was lapped two to three times. Tough on the non existent confidence. Final time was double my sprint time 6 weeks prior and only 26 seconds slower than projected time.
What would you do differently?:

Swim more, rest less!. I spent time and mental energy looking for my family. I need to train and prepare better.
Transition 1
  • 03m 20s
Comments:

Grabbed a drink, forgot camel back and had to go back and pick it up.(good choice)
What would you do differently?:

I need to practice more on the transitions. Tighten up heart rate strap pre race and ensure it is connected well. It splipped off and hung loose in my jersy in the first 1/2 mile of the bike.
Bike
  • 1h 18m 3s
  • 25 miles
  • 19.22 mile/hr
Comments:

Ride felt pretty good, passed 6 people in first 5 miles, and one more in the first 10. Struggled keeping up pace as approaching town. Early climbs went better than expected but may paid the price for it later. Comming off the bike, extremely sore in the crotch muscles too tight couldn't get loosened up to run. Also didn't or couldn't push myself to catch the folks I saw in the distance. Discovered later, saddle height had slipped (attention to detail). Maybe that was contributor to tightness.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe take it a little easier through the first big hill. Confirm seat height!!
Transition 2
  • 04m 3s
Comments:

Took time to stretch, needed more. If the legs/crotch would have been alright it probably would have been my best T2 yet, but alas...
What would you do differently?:

Stretch out coming in on the bike in the last mile or so, do more Bricks after hard rides instead of spins.
Run
  • 56m 59s
  • 6.21 miles
  • 09m 11s  min/mile
Comments:

Just kept running at all times regardless how slow, could never really loosen up the legs and when they felt "OKAY" then I couldn't push the heart.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked to transition, grabbed some stuff went to hotel for shower and stretch. Came back to clean up Transition area and then get results and lunch

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Cramps and stiffness coming off the bike, needed a larger training base for heart

Getting lapped in a pool Tri seems inevitable for people like me.... don't sweat it man.  Nice job working through the problems and finishing the race. I didn't realize there were any tri's left to do this year

Thanks. It was an improvement, only 2/3 of the field was ahead of me out of the water this time.

I am just getting familiar with the site, reviewing 2005 and planning 2006 so the public post of the race was several months after the fact
