Swim
Comments: I think I passed about 4 to 5 people on the swim. It was difficult to get my flipturns in when I was passing. What would you do differently?: Work harder on forcing myself to get a good flipturn in regardless the situation. Transition 1
Comments: I'm guessing my T1 since it wasn't broken down but rather just added to your bike time. What would you do differently?: I rode in my speedo so the only piece of clothing added besides socks and shoes was a shirt. Unfortunately I put my helmet on first before the shirt so I spent an extra 10sec trying to get the shirt on over the helmet. Bike
Comments: My seat post had been slipping because the bolt wasn't tight enough. It was almost all the way down...what a difference, I can now hold a 2mph avg faster with the seat in the proper position and I could have maybe knocked off 4 min of race time had I checked my bike...newbie issues. What would you do differently?: Insure proper bike settings for optimal performance prior to and on race day! Transition 2
Comments: Spent some un-needed time looking for a gel pack to eat that I had put in my shorts pre-race so I wouldn't have to look for it. Left my helmet on out of the bike area, people must have thought I was doing special ed race. What would you do differently?: Helmet off...jump off moving bike...had water to carry with me for the first portion of the run. Run
Comments: For the first mile my calves felt like they were going to seize so I had to run flatfooted until I could work them out. What would you do differently?: Stretch my calves on the last couple miles of the bike course. Post race
Warm down: My uncle who had finished 15 min before me was there to greet me at the finish...all I remember saying once I grabbed my knees was WATER. What limited your ability to perform faster: Bike not adjusted to fit me properly. I needed more water during the race. Last updated: 2004-04-29 12:00 AM

Being my first race I didn't really have a routine but I only drank 2 cups water that morning and a bananna.
The biking portion of the race had a lot of turns in a parking lot. My race training partner and myself walked about 2mi checking out the course to make sure we understood what we were getting into.
