Is there anyway to increase the allowable size for uploading avators.  Currently it is at 50KB and even when I take a picture on my digital camera at its lowest resoluation, its still around 60KB.

Decrease the resolution with any number of software programs.

While one person having a 60KB avatar vs a 50KB avatar isn't likely to make a difference, an image that small doesn't need to be any bigger than 2-5KB, really.

When viewing a long thread or blog, where there might be 20 or 30 different users with images, if everyone had images that large, it would quickly add up to be something significant.

Also there's been talk of implementing some functions that handle this resizing for you transparently. Maybe soon. ;-)
