Swim
  • 08m 22s
  • 300 yards
  • 02m 47s / 100 yards
Comments:

Was nervous about the swim but thought I was prepared for it. REally was not prepared and almost lost it durning the swim. Started swimming with my head up the whole time and really wore myself out.
What would you do differently?:

Wait until the major group went in and then swim at my own pace and consentrait on my breathing.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

This went fairly well. Need to make sure I have the shirt on before trying to put helmet on...
Bike
  • 30m 42s
  • 8.31 miles
  • 16.24 mile/hr
Comments:

Bike went very well concidering the shape I came out of the water. Needed to drink a little more on the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Push myself a little more on the back half of the bike. Drink more on the bike.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

The dismount at the stopping point was a little ugly, almost hit the person in front of me. Parking the bike went well as did finding the right location.
What would you do differently?:

Walk through the bike dismounting area before hand so I have a better feel for the stopping area. Get a drink while in trans area, was very dry on start of run.
Run
  • 24m 33s
  • 3 miles
  • 08m 11s  min/mile
Comments:

Run went well was comfortable pace, although very thirsty at beginning. Had a lot left at the end, sprinted the last quarter-mile.
What would you do differently?:

Should have picked the pace up at least when I made the turn back. Kept the easy pace longer than I should have.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around and visited. Light streching.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

The swimming really hurt the rest of my performance. Should have started the swimming earlier, and done some open water swims prior to event.

Event comments:

For my first race I was happy with the results although I was very disappointed with my swimming. I am concentrating on my swimming now so that next time I can approach the swim with true confidence instead of with the ignorance and fear that I did this time.

Great job! I think it is pretty normal to sort of hyperventilate your first swim of your first tri. Way to regroup, though. I'd kill for your run time.

Nice job --- and this being your first with a learning curve involved, you have not where to go but up! Good race. Thanks for posting.
