Subject: Need Help/Advice Hi, I am 33 and really want to get into triatholoning. I want to do this for a couple reasons (back in shape - pride ). I was always athletic, played hockey in college and as an adult until I was 28. Three years ago I found out I had what's called "hip impingement" in both of my hips. Basically my hip ball didn't fit in the socket properly and also had a hook type of growth. So over the years the abuse they took from sports finally took its toll. I had the left hip surgically repaired and immediately felt great (I have a great orthopedic surgeon if you're in the DC area ). However, I also have some added wear on my knee and ankle on that side from compensation; not enough for surgery yet. So with all of that I have some questions.
First - the biking and swimming don't seem to really bother me, but the running does.
Anybody have recommendations for braces that may help with stability/comfort?
Any training or excersises recommended?
Are there any types of alternate triathlons (row? ) in place of the run?
Thanks for your help in advance. |
