Vintage Poster -- Mark Allen Nike Triathlon / Cycling: "Eat Right. Get Lots of Sleep. Drink Plenty of Fluids. Go Like Hell"
This inspirational classic poster from the mid-1980s is out-of-print and very rare.
You can Google the web about this poster and read quite a bit of deal of mythology and history about this poster including:
• The poster dates back to the early days of the Nike and its BRS
(“Blue Ribbon Sports” or alternatively, “Bike, Run Swim”
) clothing line, which may have been the original triathlon- specific clothing line.
• Allen's bike was a custom-made carbon frame
(one of the first available at the time, made by Huffy, and similar to ones supplied to the US Olympic team. The bike was available by special order for a reported $8,000.
• The bike in the poster is a Schwinn, by Kestrel. During the time Schwinn owned Kestrel, Mark was sponsored by Schwinn. A certain number of Kestrels were painted and dressed with Schwinn decals for sale through their dealer network under the Paramount line.
This poster measures 36” X 24” and is in “mint condition.” It has never been in a frame or otherwise displayed; there are no pin holes or tape marks or faded colors on the poster.
