Subject: RE: good luck dar & brenda! Thanks Ron! I did it! It was a lot of fun. I wasn't the last person which was what I expected to be. I finished in less than two hours, which was sort of my unofficial goal. I finished the half mile swim faster than I thought I would, but I would have been even faster if I had checked my bearings a little more often. It's hard to swim in a straight line without a line on the bottom of the pool. I tend to veer to my right, so I probably added some distance to the swim. It took me 29 minutes, I think REAL swimmers do it in like 15. Slow but steady that's me.
I kicked butt on the bike though, it was nine miles, only three people passed me and they were young, thin and on much fancier bikes than mine. That took me 30 minutes, speed of 22 mph, then the run, well I never said I was fast, it took me about 42 minutes to run the three miles.
Out of 1175 participants I was 1035 in the swim, 997 in the run and 184 in the bike. See I told you biking was my best sport. Overall I was 909 out of 1175. Not bad for an old fat broad. I'll do it again and train a little harder for the run, and watch where the heck I'm going for the swim.
Thanks for your support. Also, note to self, don't try to put a jersey with no zipper on over a wet bra. It cost me a few extra minutes in the first transition. Edited by Dar 2003-06-23 3:20 PM
