Overall Rank = 51/61
Age Group = 25-29
Age Group Rank = 0/
Pre-race routine:

Slept poorly the night before...english muffin with PB & J & coffee at about 6:45, then a bananna at 8:30 race started at 9:40. Arrived to set up around 8:00 spent time talking with friends and generally making self nervous.
Event warmup:

Lots of wnadering around, quick run and stretch. Couldn't get in to swim before hand.
Swim
  • 11m 44s
  • 500 meters
  • 02m 21s / 100 meters
Comments:

Swim felt good, got slightly off course a couple of times, got kicked and hit a lot, didn't know where I was in comparison to others but felt good to come in around the middle.
What would you do differently?:

Work on bilateral breathing. I had been practicing in training but breathed to one side for the race.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

This was okay...no wetsuit helped
What would you do differently?:

nothing
Bike
  • 50m 47s
  • 20 kms
  • 23.63 km/hr
Comments:

I got smoked on the bike as you can see from the drop in my standing. People were cruising by me, mostly road bikes though.
What would you do differently?:

Get a new bike. Mine is a MTB (does have slicks), but is an extra small as when I bought it a couple years ago I could not ride at all and liked the fact that I could touch down quickly. My tri training teacher said "it does look a little small for you, is that a kids bike?" Also keep working on biking.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

This was okay. Wobbly running with bike. Had to stop bike completely then get off.
What would you do differently?:

Practice jumping off moving bike.
Run
  • 33m 2s
  • 5 kms
  • 06m 37s  min/km
Comments:

First half was hard, second half better. Felt strong, nice to pass some people.
What would you do differently?:

Interval training.
Post race
Warm down:

Wandered around with family and friends.....massage....fruit...home!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Small MTB, not enough speed workouts in running.

Event comments:

The start time changed and where you entered and exited for the run changed as well. There could have been more organization in that regard. I didn't stay for the after race stuff 'cause my cousin and her little ones were visiting and came to the race.

Great job...feels good to get the first one out of the way...confidence builds when you can say 'I am a triathlete'
