I am trying to pick a training plan to prepare for my first Olympic triathlon that will take place on July 15th. My plan is to begin "official" training in February. The 16 and 20 week beginner training programs have only 3-4 brick workouts built in in the last month To me, this seems insufficient. I would welcome amy suggestions and advice. Thanks!
Best to ask this over on the Tri Talk or Training Plan Support section of the forums. But while your here, it all depends what you're after. IF the goal is to finish, then it is probably enough. But if the plan is to run hard, nothing says you cannot do more. I usually start my bricks ~6 weeks before the frist race race of the season, and when I do they are short runs only to get the legs use to the stress and then build up distances.
The first weekend, do a 45min swim + 1.5hr bike. It can be the wimpiest brick ever (eg. bike in the local park), but you need to get the whole difficulty of a brick idea out of your head. Then you'll eat them up like you do breakfast.
