Comments: Really weak swim for me...think part of it was exhaustion from the day before, low energy and poor sighting. What would you do differently?: Better night before...more aggressive first 100 yds and really work on sighting...I think I lost a lot of time correcting for course Transition 1
Comments: Good T1 but I have to admit I didnt really run hard or 'rush' the T1...I took a second and took a deep breath after taking off the wetsuit, made a joke to my rackmate and then grabbed the bike and ran with it....got onto the bike with minimal difficulty...one foot in easily...fought with the other one What would you do differently?: Had trouble mounting and starting b/c the gear was set too tough...need to ensure I leave the bike in an easy setting for leaving T1 Bike
Comments: Bad Bike segment...again really exhausted from night before and struggling to learn how to handle changes in incline/climbing...did alright sometimes but then faultered on others...glad my bike got tuned up b/f the race...felt better shifting. What would you do differently?: More strength and hills training [with more time to rest b/t races] ...and get out of the saddle more often Transition 2
Comments: Danged socks held me up again...but I'm not ready for over 5k without socks...maybe some shoes are better for sockless running... Run
Comments: Left T1 and saw my wife and yelled to her: "I hate this part!" ...lots of laughs from the crowd! Felt like I was bobbing up and down...but tried to keep a 30/20s cadence going...got passed a couple of times, but being in the 1st heat it wasnt so bad. Surprised by the resulting pace...actually faster than usual, on a longer event...same cramp as Monster...lower abs/bladder area What would you do differently?: Less water? Less bobbing and increase pace or cadence Post race
Warm down: Light stretching and a massage [mmmmmmmmmmm] a bagel, ice cream, gatorade and water...then found Ellen, enjoyed the post race until we had to check out at the hotel What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of good rest/sleep and not enough time since my last triathlon 5 days prior. Event comments: Great race...even for a 5 hour drive...hopefully we'll do it again next year! Last updated: 2004-09-13 12:00 AM

Parked and Racked bike, ate two cliff bars drank about 2.5 quarts of water and a cup of coffee. Briefly said hi to Ellen, joked with wife about getting suckered into body marking and finally did a good set of stretching before donning the wetsuit with massive amounts of bodyglide
...still just the stretching...was really tired
