Who is going to captain this team? I would volunteer but (insert lame excuse)...however, I suppose if noone steps up I will attempt to do whatever it is that a captain does...*please someone step up!*

I'm Emiko, I live in Hawaii (Kauai) but I'm originally from Seattle (25years there!).. so not sure how this all translates into the Northeast.. perhaps Northwest? Any team name ideas out there?

My goal is 8000 meters, I've only recently (like in the last 5 weeks) started swimming regularly, and my pool is teeny weeny (30m laps.. yes laps..) and I don't have a GPS system to measure my open water swims so I figured 8000 is a good goal for me.

There has been soo much trash talking about this challenge, but I usually view that as compensation for weaknesses... look forward to meeting you all!

-miko

You've got Oregon, Alaska, Hawaii and Japan. I was thinking Pacific Rim except the Cali folks are on Team SouthWest.

Maybe we could be the Ring of Fire - referencing the volcanos/earthquakes..plus we'd have a rockin' theme song and we know we'll be burning up the pool/ocean!

However, I have never been good at "names" so DEFINITELY open to suggestions!

Sorry, I`ve been MIA studying for a Japanese test for the last week, glad to have found a team!

I`ll pledge 20,000 Meters by the 21st. I`ll be going on a surf trip to Indo then, so I can`t punish my shoulders too much!

Good luck and get swimming!

Von

Sweet! Now there are three!

I'm sure it's posted somewhere, but when do we tell capatain steve our weekly totals.. Weeks are from Monday to Sunday? So this Monday (12/5) do we report what we did 12/1-12/4? or do we add that onto the next week? I'll be out of town Sat-Tues (but have at least 2 swimming times scheduled) so I might not be able to report until Tues.

Just put you actual distance in the training log, and I will get your total from there. According to the rules if you don’t put it in your training log it won’t count. If you miss logging a few day’s before each Sunday just PM me and tell me that you updated you log for the previous week. I need to have everybody make sure all of your stuff is logged by Dec 31, if you don’t it won’t count.

Yikes,
Can I still take part? I'm in the military and was gone all last week (no chance to get near a computer and send in my pledge). Can we make an exception for me? I'll pledge 20,000 yds.

Pacific Ring of Fire.. awesome name.

Hey team! How's everyone doing in general and with your goals? I missed my scheduled swimming day on Monday and so I'm in a slight panic trying to get my days in..I'm going to take a break in the middle of the day today and get my swim in and do another swim tomorrow. My goal is so small compared to everyone elses - how do you guys do it?! I'm a newbie swimmer and the pool at my gym has a 30m lap...no joke, so it's hard to get into a groove when you have to turn around every 12 seconds.. I wish I had GPS b/c swimming in the ocean is soo much more enjoyable, and the laps are much longer than 30m! GOOD LUCK GUYS!!

Glad to hear I'm still in. I'll be in the pool tomorrow starting to rack up my yardage. Hope its not snowing, its always a demotivator for me when I get up and there is snow everywhere. Can't say my first thought is "Hey, I want to get in a cold pool and swim!"

Good luck everyone, glad to be a part of the best team!

Hope everybody is getting some good time in the pool these days. I started out slow, but I should be able to meet my goal before my trip next week. Off to the pool now!

I really don`t want to change my avater to something that will make me look foolish, so let`s get going!

Hey! my goal is small compared to everyone else's but I think I'm definitely on track to meet my goal. I've been swimming more than running or biking and I really look forward to the next time I can swim! I too do not want a silly avatar - I can find those on my own
