I can tell you why. Why? truck comes in with fresh milk and produce at 6am. Truck is unloaded and everything sits on the unrefridgerated loading dock. Shift change at 7am. Day shift comes in and screws around does paper work for an hour to an hour and a half. Finally, after much bickering, someone is told to put the stuff in the Refridgerator. He then delegates it to someone else who has a whole list of other things to do. He gets to it when he can. So by 9, the stuff has a chance of getting to the refridgerator. Also check the exp dates on dry goods. There is a system in place to pull all expiried stuff, but it's never followed. So often times expired stuff from the back is pushed out to the floor. I remember one time finding a jar of salsa that was 2 years old, was walking to the charge back bin (where old/broken stuff goes), passed my boss and he told me to push it to the floor to be stocked anyway. Then there are times when stuff breaks open on the truck (like soap, molasses, coke, cooking oil) and coates boxes of merchendise. They pull it, let it sit and at the end of the night, if it's not "too bad" they push it to the floor. |
