I play a little mental game.  How many people could I exchange belts with?  At Walmart on a Friday...in Tennesee...., not very many.

Jesus H. C.....don't even get me started on my WM rant.  I H-A-T-E that place and have boycotted going there for the last year.  That's right, I don't watch tv and I don't go to WM.....I am a freak.

I got tired of going there and seeing the "face of America".......it was scaring me.  I want to be from a country of people that aren't fodder for Jerry Springer.  I want the people of my country to have teeth and not wear sweat pants.......is that tooooo much to ask?  Okay, label me for the snob I am.

At one time i often found myself people watching. That is, until I spent a lot of time in San Francisco. Now, I simply can't watch anymore.

Oh my - we have the same pet peeve: people wearing sweat pants in public. And yes, you see the lowest of the low, the grossest of the gross, the freakiest of the freaky, the ugliest of the ulgy, the fattest of the fat, at Walmart. I have seen families there that made me shudder.

i'm a freak too, then. wal-mart and its practices are evil. if you don't think so, watch frontline's 'store wars' and then decide.

i never go their either.  mainly because they are so far away from me and they really don't have anything worth buying.  My grocery store and pharmacy have everything I'd even need from there...and I REFUSE to buy food at walmart or Target.  I used to work at a target in the grocery section and after spending a week in the stock room and refridgerators I will never buy a food related product there again.

if you have ever bought milk there and wonder why it goes sour 2 days before the exp date.... I can tell you why.

I think it would consider cute if a college age girl wear PJ bottom or sweatpants with "ABERCROMBIE" written across the buttock. Obscene for anybody else. Never like Wal Mart. I prefer Target or better yet, MEIJER!!!!

Other places for people watching:
Casinos - guessing if someone is really that someone else's niece/sister/daughter/aunt.
Gyms - love watching overzealous dudes doing weights. Lift twice, grunt loud, and sat there.
Urgent care waiting rooms - guessing what's wrong with that person, since there is nothing else to do there but wait!

It's even more interesting to see how different people shop at different stores. Compare Wally world with super Targets. I don't want to offend anyone but most people at walmart seem fat and out of shape, and the workers are normaly kinda grungy. Completely opposite of Target people, look health, inshape and more attractive. I havn't been able to come up with a reason for the observed difference in clientele.

Because it sat outside in the heat for three hours before they put it in the cooler. Atleast thats what I did when I worked in grocery.

I don't mind walmart, its cheap, usually easy to get everything. I haven't really shopped there since I moved here though, I only go to the grocery store and Target--there isn't a walmart within a 20-30 min. drive.

if you have ever bought milk there and wonder why it goes sour 2 days before the exp date.... I can tell you why.

Why?

truck comes in with fresh milk and produce at 6am.  Truck is unloaded and everything sits on the unrefridgerated loading dock.  Shift change at 7am.  Day shift comes in and screws around does paper work for an hour to an hour and a half.  Finally, after much bickering, someone is told to put the stuff in the Refridgerator.  He then delegates it to someone else who has a whole list of other things to do.  He gets to it when he can.  So by 9, the stuff has a chance of getting to the refridgerator.

Also check the exp dates on dry goods.  There is a system in place to pull all expiried stuff, but it's never followed.  So often times expired stuff from the back is pushed out to the floor.  I remember one time finding a jar of salsa that was 2 years old, was walking to the charge back bin (where old/broken stuff goes), passed my boss and he told me to push it to the floor to be stocked anyway.

Then there are times when stuff breaks open on the truck (like soap, molasses, coke, cooking oil) and coates boxes of merchendise.  They pull it, let it sit and at the end of the night, if it's not "too bad" they push it to the floor.

Ugh. So when and where do you buy your food? Where are the better places?

I got a gallon of milk a couple weeks ago and it only lasted 4 days...ugh.

Hmm.. I wonder if that has something to do with Wally Mart's no union policy and the fact they pay their people peanuts. My coworker and I agree that employees at Costco seem to be much more helpful and hardworking then their counterpart at the WalMart owned Sam's Club. Costco pays their employees well (bf said it's ~$20/hr including benefits).

I think it more of a magament and mission statement of the company. I use to work for publix, (not unionized) and the customer came first no matter what. I don't think walmart has that mind set with regard to the customer, or magament doesn't practice what it preaches.

that was at a Target....  I had a friend that worked for Wal-Mart that said it's even more disorganized.

I just shop at a normal grocery store and have never had a problem
